Supplying the whole market, from manufacturers to distributors, and directly to convenience stores, the GSSP program offers custom retrofit solutions for all dispenser makes and models in North America.
Fuel theft and credit card skimming issues have been and will continue to be the number one form of fraud in the United States. For decades, gas pump manufacturers have used a low security cam lock, keyed to one single code, CH751. This simplified plan allowed for easy maintenance and service of pumps, but also unfortunately allowed for surreptitious entry.
Preventing unauthorized access to the dispensers is the best way to protect your investments and your customers’ information. Once the dispenser has been compromised, skimming devices can be installed to capture customer credit card information and to manipulate pulsers to allow free flow vending of gas. Having a proprietary, registered key control system with high security locks is the best and most economical method to protect assets and prevent fraud.
Recognizing the need, CompX developed the Gas Station Security Program, a wide variety of solutions to help combat these problems.
Supplying the whole market, from manufacturers to distributors, and directly to convenience stores, the GSSP program offers custom retrofit solutions for all dispenser makes and models in North America. CompX designs and manufactures high security locks, with non-duplicable keys and registered proprietary key codes unique to every station. There are multiple locking points on the dispensers to secure the main electronics door, the receipt door, and the lower skirt door. Each locking point has custom, high security formed cams to prevent prying. The locks have attack resistant features to prevent forced entry access. And, there are no key blanks available on the open market, eliminating the risk of keys being copied.
The original high security lock, TuBAR, is the most secure lock on the market to prevent physical attacks. If drilling, picking, torquing, or punching the lock are the main concerns, then TuBAR is the best choice.
Turbine is the other high security option. If having a durable, robust key that is easy to operate is preferred, then Turbine is the best choice. Both locks provide the same registered key control and offer the same attack resistant cams to prevent prying.
Another common form of theft at a gas station is stealing bulk fuel – hundreds of gallons, or more at a time – from the underground tanks. CompX designed the TANK Commander to provide maximum security from unauthorized access. The TANK Commander is made of heavy-duty stainless steel that fully encapsulates the fuel cap and offers many locking options, from keyed solutions to combination padlocks to puck locks. Keyed options include high security locks, TuBAR and Turbine, and can use the same key code to match the dispensers.
The original TANK Commander is 9” in diameter, CARB approved, and includes a modified OPW low profile cap. The TANK Commander Too is more economical, is 7” in diameter, and is a one piece easy to install unit with an integrated cap.
